भारत का इतिहास एवं भारतीय राष्ट्रीय आन्दोलन - भारत के इतिहास के अन्तर्गत अभ्यर्थियों को भारतीय इतिहास के सामाजिक, आर्थिक एवं राजनीतिक पक्षों की व्यापक जानकारी रखनी होगी जबकि भारतीय राष्ट्रीय आन्दोलन के अंतर्गत स्वतंत्रता आन्दोलन की प्रकृति तथा विशेषता, राष्ट्रवाद का अभ्युदय तथा स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति से संबंधित सामान्य प्रश्न पूछे जाएंगे।

भारत एवं विश्व का भूगोल - भारत के भूगोल के अन्तर्गत देश के भौतिक, सामाजिक एवं आर्थिक भूगोल से सम्बन्धित प्रश्न पूछे जाएंगे। विश्व के भूगोल से संबंधित प्रश्न अभ्यर्थियों की केवल सामान्य जानकारी की परख करने के लिए पूछे जाएंगे।

भारतीय राजनीति एवं शासन - संविधान, राजनीतिक व्यवस्था, पंचायती राज, लोकनीति, अधिकार प्रकरण आदि: – भारतीय राज्य व्यवस्था, अर्थव्यवस्था एवं संस्कृति के अन्तर्गत देश के पंचायती राज तथा सामुदायिक विकास सहित राजनीतिक प्रणाली के ज्ञान तथा भारत की आर्थिक नीति के व्यापक लक्षणों एवं भारतीय संस्कृति की जानकारी पर प्रश्न होंगे।

आर्थिक एवं सामाजिक विकास - सतत विकास, गरीबी, अन्तर्विष्ट जनसांख्यिकीय, सामाजिक क्षेत्र के पहल आदि – इस भाग के अंतर्गत जनसंख्या, पर्यावरण तथा नगरीकरण की समस्याओं तथा उनसे संबंधित प्रश्न पूछे जाएंगे।

पर्यावरण एवं पारिस्थितिकी, जैव-विविधता एवं जलवायु परिवर्तन - इस विषय में सामान्य जागरूकता संबंधी प्रश्न पूछे जाएंगे। अभ्यर्थियों को विषय विशेषज्ञता की आवश्यकता नहीं है।

सामान्य विज्ञान – सामान्य विज्ञान के प्रश्न दैनिक अनुभव तथा प्रेक्षण से सम्बन्धित विषयों सहित विज्ञान के सामान्य परिबोध एवं जानकारी पर आधारित होंगे, जिसकी किसी भी सुशिक्षित व्यक्ति से अपेक्षा की जा सकती है, जिसने वैज्ञानिक विषयों का विशेष अध्ययन नहीं किया है।

अभ्यर्थियों से यह अपेक्षित होगा कि उत्तर प्रदेश के विशेष परिप्रेक्ष्य में उपर्युक्त विषयों का उन्हें सामान्य परिचय हो।

UPPCS Prelims Syllabus – Paper-II

इस पेपर को CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) के नाम से भी जानते हैं। इसलिए इस पेपर के सिलेबस को UPPCS CSAT Syllabus भी कह सकते हैं।

जैसा कि पहले ही बताया है कि यूपी पीसीएस मुख्य परीक्षा Descriptive प्रकार की होती है। यानि इसमें उत्तर विस्तार से लिखने होते हैं।

नए पैटर्न के अनुसार यूपीपीएससी पीसीएस मेन्स परीक्षा में कुल छः पेपर होते हैं। इनमें पहला पेपर सामान्य हिन्दी, दूसरा पेपर निबंध, तीसरे से छठवें तक सामान्य अध्ययन के होते हैं।

UPPCS Mains Syllabus : Paper – 2- निबंध

इस प्रश्न पत्र में अभ्यर्थियों को तीन निबंध लिखने होते हैं। यानि इसमें तीन खंड होते हैं और प्रत्येक खंड से एक-एक विषय पर लगभग 700 शब्दों में तीन निबंध लिखने होंगे। तीनों खंडों में निम्नलिखित विषयों पर आधारित प्रश्न पूछे जाएंगे और छात्रों को उनपर एक-एक निबंध लिखना होता है।

खंड (क) : i) साहित्य और संस्कृति ii) सामाजिक क्षेत्र और iii) राजनैतिक क्षेत्र ।
खंड (ख) : i) विज्ञान, पर्यावरण और प्रौद्योगिकी ii) आर्थिक क्षेत्र और iii) कृषि, उद्योग एवं व्यापार।
खंड (ग) : i) राष्ट्रीय और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय घटनाक्रम ii) प्राकृतिक आपदाएं, भू-स्खलन, भूकंप, बाढ़, सूखा आदि और iii) राष्ट्रीय विकास कार्यक्रम एवं परियोजनाएँ।

UPPCS Mains Syllabus : Paper-3 – सामान्य अध्ययन- I

1. भारतीय संस्कृति के इतिहास में प्राचीन काल से आधुनिक काल तक के कला प्रारूप, साहित्य एवं वास्तुकला के महत्वपूर्ण पहलू।

2. आधुनिक भारतीय इतिहास (1757 ई0 से 1947 ई0 तक) - महत्वपूर्ण घटनाएं, व्यक्तित्व एवं समस्याएं इत्यादि।

3. स्वतंत्रता संग्राम- इसके विभिन्‍न चरण और देश के विभिन्‍न भागों से इसमें अपना योगदान देने वाले महत्वपूर्ण व्यक्ति और उनका योगदान।

4. स्वतंत्रता के पश्चात्‌ देश के अंदर एकीकरण और पुनर्गठन (1965 ई0 तक)।

5. विश्व के इतिहास में 8 वीं सदी से बीसवीं सदी के मध्य तक की घटनाएं जैसे फ्रांसीसी क्रान्ति 1789, औद्योगिक क्रांति, विश्व युद्ध, राष्ट्रीय सीमाओं का पुनः सीमांकन, उपनिवेशवाद, उपनिवेशवाद की समाप्ति, राजनीतिक दर्शन शास्त्र जैसे साम्यवाद, पूँजीवाद, समाजवाद, नाजीवाद, फासीवाद इत्यादि के रूप और समाज पर उनके प्रभाव इत्यादि शामिल होंगें।

6. भारतीय समाज और संस्कृति की मुख्य विशेषताएं।

7. महिलाओं की समाज और महिला-संगठनों में भूमिका, जनसंख्या तथा सम्बद्ध समस्याएं, गरीबी और विकासात्मक विषय, शहरीकरण, उनकी समस्याएं और उनके रक्षोपाय।
 
8. उदारीकरण, निजीकरण और वैश्वीकरण का अभिप्राय और उनका भारतीय समाज के अर्थ व्यवस्था, राज्य व्यवस्था और समाज संरचना पर प्रभाव।

9. सामाजिक सशक्तीकरण, साम्प्रदायिकता, क्षेत्रवाद और धर्मनिरपेक्षता

10. विश्व के प्रमुख प्राकृतिक संसाधनों का वितरण- जल, मिट्टियाँ एवं वन, दक्षिण एवं दक्षिण पूर्व एशिया में (भारत के विशेष संदर्भ में)।

1. भारतीय संविधान- ऐतिहासिक आधार, विकास, विशेषताएं, संशोधन, महत्वपूर्ण प्रावधान तथा आधारभूत संरचना। संविधान के आधारभूत प्रावधानों के विकास में उच्चतम न्यायालय की भूमिका। 

2. संघ एवं राज्यों के कार्य तथा उत्तरदायित्व, संघीय ढांचे से संबंधित विषय एवं चुनौतियां, स्थानीय स्तर पर शक्तियों और वित्त का हस्तांतरण और उसकी चुनौतियां।

3. केन्द्र-राज्य वित्तीय सम्बन्धों में वित्त आयोग की भूमिका। 

4. शक्तियों का पृथक्करण, विवाद निवारण तंत्र तथा संस्थाएं। वैकल्पिक विवाद निवारण तंत्रों का उदय एवं उनका प्रयोग। 

5. भारतीय संवैधानिक योजना की अन्य प्रमुख लोकतांत्रिक देशों के साथ तुलना।

6. संसद और राज्य विधायिका- संरचना, कार्य, कार्य-संचालन, शक्तियाँ एवं विशेषाधिकार तथा संबंधित विषय।

UPPCS Mains Syllabus : Paper-5 – सामान्य अध्ययन- III

1. भारत में आर्थिक नियोजन, उद्देश्य एवं उपलब्धियाँ, नीति (एन0आई0टी0आई0) आयोग की भूमिका, संपोषणीय विकास के लक्ष्य, एस0डी0जी0 की प्राप्ति के प्रयास।

2. गरीबी के मुद्दे, बेरोजगारी, सामाजिक न्याय एवं समावेशी संवृद्धि। 

3. सरकार के बजट के अवयव तथा वित्तीय प्रणाली। 

4. प्रमुख फसलें, विभिन्‍न प्रकार की सिंचाई विधि एवं सिंचाई प्रणाली, कृषि उत्पाद का भंडारण, दुलाई एवं विपणन, किसानों की सहायता हेतु ई-तकनीकी। 

5. अप्रत्यक्ष एवं प्रत्यक्ष कृषि सहायकी तथा न्यूनतम समर्थन मूल्य से जुड़े मुद्दे, सार्वजनिक वितरण प्रणाली-उद्देश्य, क्रियान्वयन, परिसीमाएं, सुदृढ़ीकरण खाद्य सुरक्षा एवं बफर भण्डार, कृषि सम्बन्धित तकनीकी अभियान टेक्नालाजी मिशन।

UPPCS Mains Syllabus : Paper-6 – सामान्य अध्ययन- IV(नीति शास्त्र)

नीति शास्त्र का पेपर हाल ही में शुरू किया गया है। यह पेपर परीक्षार्थियों के नैतिक चरित्र का आकलन करने के लिए बनाया गया था। इस पेपर के अंतर्गत आने वाले विषयों की सूची इस प्रकार है।

General Studies-I

Current events of national and international importance- On Current Events of National and International Importance, candidates will be expected to have knowledge about them.

History of India & Indian National Movement: - In History emphasis should be on broad understanding social, economic and political aspects of Indian History. In the Indian National Movement, the candidates are expected to have synoptic view of nature and character of the freedom movement, growth of nationalism and attainment of Independence.

India and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World: In World Geography only general understanding of the subject will be expected. Questions on the Geography of India will relate to Physical, Social & Economic Geography of India.

Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.: - In Indian Polity, Economic and Culture, questions will test knowledge of country's political system including Panchayati Raj and Community Development, broad features of Economic policy in India and Indian Culture.

Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.: - The candidates will be tested with respect to problems and relationship between Population, Environment and Urbanization.

There will be three sections in the question paper of Essay. Candidates will have to select one topic from each section and they are required to write essay in 700 words on each topic. In the three sections, topics of essay will be based on following sphere:
